Granules India appoints Dr. Saumen Chakraborty as Non-executive Independent Director

Granules India Limited, a vertically integrated pharmaceutical company, today announced the appointment of Dr. Saumen Chakraborty as Non-executive Independent Director on the Board of the Company with immediate effect. Dr. Chakraborty retired as the President and Chief Financial Officer of Dr. Reddy’s in November 2020 and continued to advise the company for the next one year.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Krishna Prasad Chigurupati, Chairman & Managing Director of Granules India Limited said, “We are delighted to have Dr. Chakraborty on the board of our company. With over 37 years of experience in the field of strategic and operational aspects of management, Dr. Saumen Chakraborty has played significant role in the evolution of Dr. Reddy’s as a global pharmaceutical company from India. Prior to Dr. Reddy’s, he worked at CMC, C-DOT, Eicher and Tecumseh.

Dr. Chakraborty is a Postgraduate in Management from IIM-Ahmedabad and an executive fellow in Management from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
